250 Schools to benefit from clean power
250 Schools to benefit from clean power

Rachael Maskell MP has welcomed the news announced yesterday that Great British Energy will be funding solar panels for Burton Green Primary School and Carr Infants School in York.

The programme, which is the first major project for the Labour Government’s publicly-owned energy company, will mean less money spent on energy bills and more resources going back into the classroom.

It’s estimated that the scheme could save the schools thousands on their energy bills while showing the difference that clean power can make towards energy security for local communities.

Great British Energy’s core focus is to drive clean energy deployment to create jobs, boost energy independence, and ensure British taxpayers, billpayers and communities reap the benefits of clean and secure energy.

Rachael Maskell MP says:

“This fantastic investment by Great British Energy in Burton Green Primary School and Carr Infants School will mean less money spent on energy bills. Clean energy is a win for us all, drawing on our natural assets to power education in such a sustainable way. This Labour Government is delivering for schools enabling more money to be spent on children in Acomb and Clifton. It is great that the Government is investing in our communities in York.

“Labour is working to deliver energy security, whilst investing in our public services and lowering bills for our community, all while investing in a new generation of green collar jobs and transitioning to a more secure planet.
