For Those That Can Give
If you are able to support people financially, a local charity, Two Ridings is working with Advice York Partnership (over 70 local organisations) to make direct grants to local people. To donate, go here:
York’s food-banks and other food distribution points are looking for food and financial donations. To help, please visit: www.rachaelmaskell.com/food
The Hygiene Bank is collecting personal care and cleaning products, like laundry detergent, baby wipes and deodorants. These are donated to local food banks and schools to address poverty:
Keep York Warm
New clothing including socks, thermals and blankets are much needed. As well as good quality winter coats: Our Keep York Warm donation event will take place on Fri 18 Nov & Sat 19 Nov, please drop off donations at the Central Methodist Church, St Saviourgate between 10am-3pm.
Time To Help The Community
There are many opportunities to volunteer and help our community. Check out the York CVS website www.yorkcvs.org.uk/volunteers or call 01904 621133 to find out more.
Check in on your neighbours
We have many local community and residents groups throughout the city, as well as mobile apps that keep us connected. Start or refresh your local street group and make time to check on your neighbours. A cup of tea and chat can help break the ice, if someone is feeling lonely or needs help but is unsure of where to turn. I am also working with churches and charities to identify warm hubs where people can go and get a friendly welcome, food and company.
