Today’s announcements outline Labour’s purpose, with a welcome return to the core issues that matter to residents. A massive investment in housing to deliver social and affordable homes, a record investment in our NHS; and action finally on the state of our school buildings.
This review is long overdue, after 14 failed Tory years, we now have an opportunity to step up and deliver for people in York and across the country, and I will hold Government to account on its promises.
I put the hard yards in as a rebel against cuts to Winter Fuel Payments, and will do the same to campaign against cuts to disability payments and to remove the two-child cap. There is also serious work to do on inequality and wealth distribution that I am working towards ahead of the next Budget.
I’ll be working with local and regional partners to bring investment to York, I want and know that our Labour Government must be ambitious, radical and deliver change that is felt by all.
