Caseworker/Parliamentary Assistant working for Rachael Maskell MP

I am looking to recruit two Caseworkers to work in the York Constituency Office to support the residents of the Parliamentary Constituency York Central.

There will be flexibility in these arrangements for candidates to express the range in the number of hours that they would want to work.

The caseworker posts will have a probation period of 6 months. There will be opportunity for progression from this point.

Individuals will need to demonstrate their ability to execute a variety of skills including:

  • Being able to work as part of a team in a complex and pressured work environment, including learning to use relevant IT systems
  • Have a high level of analytical skills to write reports, briefings and correspondence
  • Be able to manage their casework, responding to the needs of constituents, businesses, organisations, communities and the city as a whole
  • Support the Parliamentary work of the MP
  • Have a good working knowledge of using different social media platforms
  • Contribute to the campaigning work of the MP
  • Assist with a number of administrative roles and routine tasks

The post holders will be expected to work closely with a range of stakeholders, Parliamentary services and other colleagues in the MP’s office.

Due to the nature of the work, some evening and weekend work will be required.

It is essential that the applicant is able to demonstrate a strong commitment to serving the community and evidence how they have actioned this to date. A commitment to the values of the Labour Party and wider movement is highly desirable.

The post will be based within the constituency of York Central, although meetings can take place elsewhere in York. At times, training or events are held in Westminster which the post holder will be required to attend.

All applications inclusive of two referees, one of which should be your current or most recent employer must be submitted by the deadline of 11 October 2024, 5pm.

Shortlisting will take place by 18 October 2024 and applicants will be notified if they have been shortlisted or not.

If candidates are shortlisted, they will be asked to take part in a timed written exercise before their interview on 7 November 2024. Interviews will be conducted in York, but if candidates have further access requirements, then they should inform me in their application.
