Rachael Maskell MP distributed a massive amount of donated toys and gifts to York charities Door 84 Youth Centre and Salvation Army. The hundreds of gifts will be put into hampers for those who need them this Christmas.

This Christmas saw the York Labour Party annual Christmas gift and toy appeal continue with a huge amount of donations, much larger than in any previous year.

Rachael Maskell MP for York Central says:
“Considering the year we have had, it pleases me to see our toy appeal is larger than ever and that in our small way, the donations we make, can help give all people in York something to open this Christmas. We know there are many challenges within our city, and the kindness and generosity of the people of York towards each other is always inspiring.

“The Salvation Army are always on the frontline in helping out rough sleepers and those in temporary accommodation and I pay tribute to their staff and volunteers.”

Cllr Danny Myers, Leader of the York Labour Group added:
“The number of people in temporary accommodation in York continues to grow, including the number of children. Door 84 Youth Centre have been amazing this year, working hard to keep youngsters engaged through lockdowns. If you want to help them out, there is always a need for more toiletries that you could donate at any time throughout the year.
