Young people have been put through significant levels of unnecessary stress over the last few days as the Government made a mockery of the A Level system. They should have first stress-tested the system before lowering the grades of thousands of pupils, when professionally trained teachers were undermined by this untested algorithm.
Over the last few days I have worked closely with pupils, parents and education providers to make a number of representations to Government. Despite this U-turn, there are still many questions left unanswered, so I have written to the Education Secretary for the third time to seek clarity over the future of this year’s A Level students.
As soon as Parliament returns I will be cross examining Government over this fiasco and seeking assurances for the future education of all young people impacted by Covid-19
