Rachael Maskell Brexit meeting
Rachael Maskell Brexit meeting

York Central MP, Rachael Maskell is inviting members of the public to a series of three public meetings which she is holding in order to discuss the challenges surrounding Brexit.  The York Central MP has organised two meetings on Saturday, 8 December.  The first is at 10:00am in Clement’s Hall, Nunthorpe Road and the second meeting is at 2:30pm in Holy Trinity Church, Heworth.  The third meeting is taking place on Sunday, 9 December at the Gateway Church, Acomb, and this is at 4pm.  Ms Maskell hopes as many people as possible will attend the meetings to share their views on Brexit with her.

She says she wants to talk through the real challenges facing this country and the complexities facing the country with each option that could proceed on Brexit from here.

Ms. Maskell says;

“Brexit has deeply divided our country and there is clearly a need to move forward.  Whether people have voted to leave or to remain we now need to act in the best interests of our country and bring people together again.  It is just one week until the crucial vote in Westminster on Theresa May’s deal and this seems to be a deal that is the worst of all worlds, leaving us no leverage for future negotiations while still giving us uncertainty over future trade arrangements and over a possible border between the island of Ireland and Great Britain.

“I want to listen to everyone’s views on how to achieve a way forward, and for us all to listen to each other as to what is the best political sequencing to achieve the outcomes we seek to provide the best future we can. I was elected to represent all my constituents in York Central and I want to ensure everyone has the opportunity to discuss this very complex issue before I decide how to vote.  I have arranged three meetings and I hope people will try to come along to one of these; to debate these issues together and listen and learn from one another.

“If you would like to attend one of the meetings please telephone my office on 01904 623713 or email Rachael.Maskell.MP@parliament.uk to reserve a place.  My staff will also provide any further information which is needed.”
