Following the launch of the petition last week, the MP for York Central will tomorrow carry on her battle to keep the Bootham Park hospital site for the people of York in her ‘Save Bootham Park – Public Land for Public Good’ campaign.  The campaign has so far gathered over 3000 signatures and Ms Maskell will be at Parliament Street tomorrow along with fellow campaigners from 11am urging people to join her in her quest to keep the site for healthcare.

Ms Maskell said:

“NHS Property services have already sold off 295 sites between 2013/14 and 2016/17 receiving £203.3 million from the sale of land.  York has already suffered from some poor developers who do not want to work with residents and become hostile, or charge the earth for services have no interest in the city, the community and the residents. Public land should first be seen as an opportunity to serve the needs of local people, be it for housing, health care and local services or new job opportunities. Development should be about people not profit.”
