Rachael Maskell, newly elected Member of Parliament for York Central, has announced that she will be holding fortnightly community constituency surgeries at a number of locations throughout York. The first of these will take place at 4:00pm at the Gateway Centre in Front Street, Acomb, on Friday, 29 May.

Rachael can help with a wide range of problems including housing, welfare, child support agency, immigration and health/NHS. Constituents can also drop in to the Gateway at 5:30pm to meet Rachael and to raise more general issues or campaign issues. This part of the surgery is open to all constituents. Anyone requiring a private meeting should ensure they have an appointment.

Rachael will also be out in the community meeting with constituents on the alternate weekend, including conducting street surgeries and attending community meetings.

Rachael Maskell says:

“It is a real honour to represent everyone living in York Central and I am keen to get out there and meet as many people as possible. I want constituents to get in touch with me via letter, telephone, e-mail, social media or face to face. It is important for me to be approachable. Sometimes people are apprehensive about contacting their MP but I want them to know I am on their side.

I will listen to your issues and aspirations and do what I can to help. I am in the process of organising my constituency office and we hope to be up and running very soon. I will be raising people’s concerns with the Government, the Council and with many other organisations and agencies. In order for MPs to do a good job in Westminster they need to know about the struggles that people face in their everyday lives. If I don’t get a satisfactory outcome, I will pursue the matter further.”
