Rachael Maskell MP for York Central met with with Leonard Kachebonaho, the Chief Executive of Kaderes, a coffee producing co-operative from Tanzania to celebrate fair-trade fortnight, which highlights the work and living standards in developing countries of the UK's everyday groceries.

Rachael Maskell MP says:
"As a Labour and Co-operative MP, I am proud of the achievements of co-operative organisations, both here in the UK and worldwide. Fairtrade Fortnight is a superb initiative that is growing every year and I will continue to promote and support the work of the Fairtrade Foundation, to highlight to consumers, the work and lives of producers."

Leonard Kachebonaho says:
“Thank you all for supporting Fairtrade. Many people in my region live on less than $2 a day and they depend on money from coffee sales. Now we are in our 6th year since joining Fairtrade and we have been able to support fellow farmers with farming to improve the environment and focus on quality to make sure you are always getting the best from us. Through Fairtrade farmers have also been able to invest in social projects such as improving health facilities, water tanks and schools. A new local secondary school now has 187 girls attending out of 293 – so a lot of girls are getting a good education and that is thanks to you.”
